Einstein's Spiritual Side
Green Tips - Starting a Compost Pile
*****************************************************************
Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was born in the German town of Ulm during the year 1879. He was a scientific genius and, as we all know, became one of the most famous physicists in history.
Even his photos, seen everywhere and used on everything from posters to postage stamps, are often used to portray pure genius. Something that is not widely known is that he was very spiritual as a result of his discoveries; he was in awe of universal energy and knew of it's inherent intelligence.
He saw the grand picture and ultimately wanted to prove his Unification Theory; that everything comes from one source. He approached solving problems by assuming nothing and questioning everything. He put aside the teachings of religion and Newtonian physics, which dominated the minds of scientists for hundreds of years, and opened the floodgates of previously unimagined realms of thinking.
His brain was kept for research after his death in 1955. At first it seemed to be completely normal and just like anyone else's brain. Then, upon further study, it was obvious that there were major differences in the areas that enable mathematical and higher thinking capabilities, thus proving that his brain was much more developed than the normal brain.
Einstein as Spiritual Master
Throughout his years of scientific discovery, he came to a conclusion and made the famous statement: "I am convinced that He (God) does not play dice." We do not understand, with our limited faculties, the wonders of the universe and ultimate reality and may not fully understand the reasons behind certain events, but there are laws and order in the universe. These laws are specifically designed to facilitate harmony and abundance. Out of what seems to be chaos comes complete order. God is the ultimate artist. Here are some quotes from Albert Einstein, one of the greatest minds of all time:
"A human being is part of the whole called by us "universe," a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive." Albert Einstein, 1954 -- [If you are familiar with the Vedas and sacred yogic texts, this sounds incredibly similar to them.]
"The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism." Albert Einstein
"The most beautiful and most profound experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling is at the center of true religiousness." Albert Einstein - The Merging of Spirit and Science

Albert Einstein's contributions and genius continue to live on, long after his death.
"I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details." Albert Einstein

GREEN TIPS
Starting a Compost Pile
Having a compost pile keeps organic yard and household waste out of your local landfill. It also creates a rich "natural" mulch for your flowerbeds and vegetable garden.
Here is how to create your own compost pile:
1. Create a pile (without a container) in an out of the way corner of your yard. Or you can, build a simple three-sided compost box about three feet tall and three feet square. Adding
a removable front to your box is a good idea too. A compost box will allow you to pile up enough organic material so that heat builds up and decomposition is accelerated.
2. Properly managing your compost pile will speed up the process. First, you should regularly turn your compost over with a spade. Second you should keep it damp, but don't let it get soaked regularly. If you live in a dry climate you should spray your pile with a hose every few days. If you live in a damp climate you may have to keep it covered with a tarp between the application of moisture.
3. Your pile should be located where it can get some sun - in order to keep the temperature up. Regardless of the season, the interior of your pile should be warm. As the material decomposes it creates heat, so a warm interior indicates that it is decomposing correctly.
4. Your pile should contain both "brown" and "green" components with about 2/3 being "brown". Brown components are rich in carbon and include such things as dried leaves, pine needles, spoiled hay, straw and paper. Green ingredients are rich in nitrogen and include grass clippings, yard waste, coffee grounds, fruit and vegetable kitchen waste.
5. Start with a 5 inch layer of brown components and then add a 2 inch layer of green, and so on.
6. Don't add meat waste to your pile because it will attract raccoons and other pests.
7. Don't add chemically treated grass, cat litter, dog feces etc.
8. Putting weeds in the center of the pile is good because the heat will kill the seeds. What a great way to get rid of all those weeds!
So go ahead and create your own compost pile. A properly managed compost pile will start yielding good compost in between 4 and 10 months. Your neighbors will be “green” with envy.

THE GAYATRI MANTRA
The following section on the Gayatri Mantra is always in this newsletter so that you can enjoy the magnificent version by Deva Premal and Miten. Click on the link in the last paragraph to hear this beautiful mantra.

“Om bhur bhuvah svah
Tat savitur varenyam
Bhargo devasya dhimahi
Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat”
In India, one of the most sacred and oldest available Divine hymns is the Gayatri Mantra. In the ancient Vedic literature, this mantra is dedicated to the deity Lord Sun. In our life, the sun represents life-giving energy.
The Gayatri Mantra is considered to be the most important mantra written out in Gayatri meter. Gayatri is personified as a goddess, the consort of Brahma (Sarasvati), and mother of the Vedas.
The Gayatri Mantra should not be chanted for the purpose of material gain, physical or otherwise. This Mantra appeals to pure Consciousness to illumine our hearts and minds. It is a prayer to the Supreme Self to unveil itself and manifest as brilliant wisdom in our life. By repeating the Gayatri Mantra with the right understanding of its sacred meaning, the ordinary negative tendencies in the human mind can be erased to a large extent. This Mantra also is believed to alleviate many fears and will help with the start and successful outcome of any important work.
It begins with the letter AUM (OM). AUM being the sound symbol of Parmatman (Supreme Reality), it is considered to be the first vibration of sound emanating at the beginning of creation. Chanting the Gayatri Mantra is said to have healing, life-giving qualities and elevates the purest, highest consciousness in us; the inner center of our being around which matter functions with mathematical precision. Just as the entire solar system revolves around the sun, without Atman (the light that is our consciousness), bodily matter becomes inert and dead. Without the sun, life would have been impossible.
Learn and chant the Gayatri Mantra for true spiritual connection and blessings!
This version of the Gayatri Mantra,
is especially beautiful. Listen to it, learn it, and become mesmerized as you become immersed in the meditative sound of the Gayatri Mantra.
