In order to make the mind strong, we have to practice yoga. We should not think that yoga is difficult or strange, for the truth is that our lives are the embodiment of yoga. We all sit in a particular posture, and that is yoga. Our breath moves in and out, and that is 'pranayama', which is a part of yoga. In order to drive a car, cook a meal, or even contemplate our beloved, we have to meditate one-pointedly. That is yoga. So we are already following some aspects of yoga in our lives. We are simply not aware of it.
Meditation is the pathway to happiness. In meditation you concentrate all your energy on one point. There are many objects for concentration. The yogic scriptures recommend concentrating on the space between the eyebrows. You can focus on the movement of your breath or you can focus on the heart, the navel or the base of the spine. However the best object of meditation is the ‘Self’.
It is the nature of the mind to become whatever it dwells upon; this is also its glory. Whatever the mind contemplates is what you become. When the mind lights on an object it becomes one with that object.
